Top performers as TST 2024 beginsAguero underforms in group playGiovinco has wonderful showingJJ Watt | Burnley FC
For any fan at The Soccer Tournament in Cary, N.C., Wednesday, watching 6-5 former NFL defensive end J.J. Watt play soccer was truly a sight to behold. He lined up at the striker position – and even hit the post, nearly scoring a brilliant effort.
And while he didn't even look like he fit on the pitch, Watt was still effective for the Clarets, and he definitely was an intimidating presence for the Nati SC defense.
He even crashed into the opposition goalkeeper with an NFL-style tackle, in hilarious fashion.

Genuinely? Woof.
Aguero's squad were arguably the most disappointing performers from Session One. They were outclassed in every sense, and the Argentine looked like he lacked fitness.
They fell to Say Word FC 6-3, with the Argentine failing to make an meaningful impact in the match. He played nearly all 40 minutes, but didn't end up on the scoresheet.
Aguero's biggest contribution was nearly starting a fight on the pitch after being taken out near the opposition box.
They looked like an amateur side against their opposition, despite sporting Man City's 2024/25 kits on the pitch.

McAfee's biggest contribution to this tournament will be visibility. He came onto the pitch for his squad early Wednesday, but definitely was not up to speed with the rest of the group.
Hosting an episode of The Pat McAfee Show live at the tournament, the ESPN personality's fans gathered around the ground as he brought Watt on stage to discuss the tournament and more.
Concafa SC, meanwhile, fell to the Reggae Rovers 4-1.
Luis Nani | Nani SC
The former Manchester United star and his squad performed well in their opening match, defeating La. Mexicana Express 3-1. Goals from Joao Semedo, Ricardo Carvahlo and Frederico Gutierrez carried them through to the end.
Nani himself didn't contribute much on the scoring front, but played well across the board in his first match of the tournament.
